The Northeast Association for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (NACMID) provides low-cost continuing education for clinical microbiologists and infectious disease specialists. Our local evening meetings and all-day regional workshops provide members an opportunity to keep up to date without incurring the expense of long-distance travel.
History and Mission
NACMID was organized in the spring of 1983 and formally incorporated as a non-profit organization on July 1, 1983. The mission of the association is to promote scientific knowledge of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. NACMID serves all of New England and New York and membership is open to all!
Constant changes in the the field, including work environment, government regulations, technology and newly emerging pathogens make continuing education for all microbiologists a necessity. We provide ASCP continuing education credits to participants of all local and annual meetings.
Message from the President
Welcome to NACMID's new and improved website! It is here that we will keep you up to date on NACMID events and news, bugs that are wreaking havoc on society, cool videos, and anything else you may be interested in.
Our mission is to keep clinical microbiologists up to date on the ever changing technologies, organism nomenclature, resistance patterns, and emerging pathogens that we come across in our field. From MERS-CoV in the Arabian Peninsula to Chikungunya virus in the Caribbean and Zika Fever in New Caledonia, it is more and more necessary to educate ourselves as world-wide travel has become the norm. Just this week Ebola landed in the U.S for the first time in history. Pathogens are crossing geographical boundaries more quickly than ever and we must work even harder to keep up with them.
Please save the date for NACMID's next annual meeting to be held June 15-16, 2015 at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough, MA. A preliminary program will be coming soon. We hope to see you all there!
-Rebecca Zaffini, NACMID President
